Grace (2009)

About Grace, there isn't much to say. When i first read the plotline, i thought it would be just some lame remake of an 80's movie or something like that, but in the end it turned out to be an amazing surprise.

I have to admit that i was extremely impressed by the story of this movie, not so much by the special effects or the few disturbing images, but because of some character's attitudes and actions, which brought to the movie a quite scary atmosphere.

So about the story, first of all, a pregnant woman has a car accident, and after she finds out that the baby is dead, she decides to carry on with the pregnancy (all the 9 months). The thing is, once the baby is out, it is in fact alive... but she only feeds on human blood. The mother takes some time to figure that out, but she does everything she can to keep the baby Grace alive. And that's freakin' impressive. Anemic and almost dying, she keeps feeding the child her own blood. And when the grandma tries to take Grace away from her... Oh my.

Overall, i have to admit that this is a movie with a lot to it. It made me cry, and it made me think. So it's definetly a worth-watch.

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Drag Me to Hell is the vulgar scary movie about a normal girl who is cursed by some reason by a terrifying old lady. Although the plotline is kida vulgar, somehow they managed to turn an old demon myth into a refreshing, and modern, horror flick.

The story itself is, as i said before, quite typical. A normal woman, with a normal (ando boring) job and the so-called perfect boyfriend, who is cursed by an old lady. The thing about the movie is the specials, which mix the modern technologies with an 80's groove, Exorcist's style. Also the soundtrack and the overall noises are extremely scary, and the quiet moments in the movie can definetly be the introduction to a leap of your chair.

I was positively impressed with this movie, because i'm not a big fan of the work of Sam Raimi since The Grudge. Anyway, it was a good surprise, and the acting was also quite good, introducing Alison Lohman (nominated to a MTV Movie Award) to my little cinema world.

Jennifer's Body (2009)

Jennifer's Body is deffinetly a movie with a lot to it. Not forgetting we're talking about a movie that involves demons and possession, among other stuff, of course. The story itself is quite consistent, with good acting AND, last but not least, the amazing soundtrack that includes All Time Low and Florence + The Machine. The recipe makes a good movie, since about demons and possession is extremely hard to find a good film with some cool specials.

About the story, i already said it is quite consistent, with no open action in the end, since the final credits exposed the idea of the finale quite well. For a scary movie is not too heavy, although it has some gory moments it also has some funny lines, usually said by Jennifer (Megan Fox), who seems to be that type of highschool hottie who has an amazing body but who also is really dumb (and that's why she requested the English homework to Colin). Anyway, i really liked the character of Jennifer, especially because she is a mix between that type of popular school girl and a misfit monster. I felt really bad with the fact that she killed Chip, though.

Overall, Jennifer's Body is a scary movie which is entering my top ten list (pretty soon).
